In December last year, the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention reported a sharp rise in hMPV and RSV cases, drawing global media attention and sparking concerns. Humanmetapneumovirus (hMPV), however, is not a new virus and spreads predominantly through respiratory droplets from those who are infected. But could it have an impact similar to Covid-19? Experts say it is unlikely for now.
