Why IMU University?
Choosing to pursue my studies at IMU University was one of the most defining decisions of my academic journey. As someone passionate about science and discovery, I was drawn to IMU’s strong foundation in health and pharmaceutical sciences, its emphasis on research-based learning, and its reputation for producing graduates who are both competent and compassionate. The university’s integrated curriculum and focus on problem-based learning (PBL) gave me the opportunity to not just memorise concepts, but to truly understand and apply them in real-world contexts.
My Experience at IMU
My time at IMU was both intellectually challenging and personally rewarding. Academically, the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry programme deepened my understanding of the relationship between chemistry and human health. Through modules such as analytical chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacology, I developed a solid foundation that now supports my current career.
Beyond academics, my experience was further enriched through my involvement in student leadership and campus activities. As President of the Student Representative Council (SRC), I had the privilege of representing the student body and working closely with university management to enhance the student experience. This role honed my leadership, communication, and organisational skills, as I coordinated various initiatives and events that fostered student engagement and well-being. Additionally, my participation in numerous student-led activities and committees allowed me to collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds, strengthening my ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to different perspectives.
Overall, IMU provided an environment that encouraged both academic excellence and personal growth. The combination of rigorous training, leadership experience, and community involvement has shaped me into a more confident, resilient, and well-rounded individual: the qualities that continue to guide me in my professional journey today.

Where I Am Now
Currently, I am working as a Research Assistant at Universiti Malaya, a role that has given me the opportunity to continue expanding my knowledge and practical skills in a research-oriented environment. Transitioning from student life to a professional research setting has been an eye-opening experience—it taught me the importance of independence, discipline, and critical thinking in solving real scientific challenges.
As a Research Assistant, I am constantly surrounded by passionate researchers and academics who inspire me to think creatively and explore new perspectives. The role allows me to apply the scientific principles and analytical techniques I learned at IMU, while also developing essential professional skills such as project management, data analysis, and academic writing. Each day brings a new opportunity to learn—whether it’s mastering a new laboratory technique, reviewing research papers, or collaborating with peers on experimental work.
Looking Ahead
In the future, I aspire to further my studies by pursuing a postgraduate degree in Chemistry or Medicinal field. My goal is to continue contributing to research that advances sustainable technologies and healthcare solutions. I also hope to eventually mentor younger scientists, just as my IMU lecturers once guided me.
Advice to Juniors
To my juniors and future IMU students: embrace curiosity and take initiative. University life is not just about attending lectures; it’s about exploring, asking questions, and challenging yourself to grow. Participate actively in research projects, internships, and academic discussions. These experiences will not only strengthen your technical knowledge but also build your confidence and adaptability, these qualities are essential in both scientific and professional settings.
