22 Dec 2025

IMU University reached a significant milestone with the inaugural Chiropractic Oath-Taking and Clinical Attire Presentation Ceremony, an event that marked the transition of the CH122 and CH222 cohorts into their clinical training phase. The ceremony brought together students, faculty members, family guests, and professional representatives, reflecting a strong sense of community and a shared commitment to advancing chiropractic education in Malaysia.

Chiropractic Programme Director, Ms Chow Kit Yee, opened the ceremony with a warm and heartfelt address. She congratulated the students as they stepped into a new stage of their professional journey and reminded them of the deeper meaning behind this milestone. She highlighted that the occasion represented not only the start of clinical rotations, but also the trust and responsibility that accompany the role of a future chiropractor.

Speaking of the values expected in clinical practice, she encouraged the students to uphold compassion, integrity and professionalism throughout their careers. She said, “Techniques can be refined and knowledge will continue to grow, but the way you treat your patients reflects the kind of clinician you choose to become. Always listen with intention and uphold the standards of our profession.”

The ceremony also welcomed Mr Wong Yi Kai, President of the Association of Chiropractic Malaysia (ACM), and Mr Newell Tan, Vice President of ACM (in the photo on the right), both alumni from IMU’s inaugural chiropractic cohort. Their presence underscored the strong partnership between IMU University and the national professional body, as well as the continued maturation of the chiropractic profession in Malaysia.

In his speech, Mr Newell reflected on the journey of the profession from its early days to the present, and emphasised the responsibility carried by each new cohort in shaping the future of chiropractic practice in the country.

The Oath-Taking Ceremony served as the focal point of the event. Students raised their right hands and pledged to uphold patient-centred, ethical and evidence-informed practice. This symbolic commitment marked their readiness to assume the responsibilities of supervised clinical care within Malaysia’s regulated musculoskeletal and Traditional and Complementary Medicine ecosystem. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates and clinical attire, further reinforcing the students’ transition into their new roles as developing clinicians.
