On 28 October 2025, students across IMU came together to celebrate Interprofessional Learning (IPL) Day , a much-anticipated annual event that brings first-year undergraduate students from all healthcare programmes under one roof. The day served as a vibrant platform for students to learn with, from, and about each other, emphasizing the essence of teamwork, collaboration, and respect across healthcare disciplines.

Despite ongoing campus renovations, the energy and enthusiasm were undeterred. The Student Ambassador team, led by Yap Jia Hui, Shuaau Mohamed Adam, and Ragunathan A/L Periasamy, together with a group of dedicated student volunteers, worked tirelessly to curate a meaningful and enjoyable experience. Their creativity and teamwork turned every challenge into an opportunity to innovate — a reflection of true interprofessional spirit.
The event unfolded across PBL rooms and the Level 4 foyer opposite the Mei Ling Young Auditorium, transforming these familiar spaces into hubs of collaboration and creativity. Students engaged in a series of team-based games such as Group Doodlers, Charades, and The Human Knot, which tested their communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Alongside these games, students also showcased their educational posters, highlighting healthcare topics and the importance of collective learning.
Adding a digital twist to the day, an Interprofessional Quiz on eLearn challenged participants’ knowledge across various healthcare fields. The quiz not only tested understanding but also encouraged students to appreciate how interconnected healthcare disciplines truly are.
A new addition this year — the Grand Taboo Challenge — quickly became the highlight of the event. Teams competed in describing healthcare-related terms without using “taboo” words, combining wit, teamwork, and quick thinking. The activity was both entertaining and educational, fostering understanding of healthcare jargon across professions. The competition ended with cheers and applause as winners walked away with a RM300 cash prize and a sense of shared accomplishment.

Mentorship and Support
This year’s success was made possible through strong faculty mentorship and seamless coordination.
A special acknowledgment goes to Dr Kalerammana Gopalakrishna Prarthana, Dr Shilpa Murthy, and Dr Saxena Kirti, whose guidance and structured planning ensured the smooth execution of the event. The support from FMA and IT departments, along with the judges Brindha Chellappan and May Kuan Ming Gal, further strengthened the day’s success, making IPL 2025 a true showcase of teamwork — both among students and faculty.
Closing Reflections: The Power of Unity in Healthcare
IPL Day 2025 was more than just an event. It was a reminder that healthcare is not a solo pursuit but a symphony of many disciplines working together. The day encapsulated the spirit of collaboration, communication, and compassion that underpins effective healthcare delivery.
Even amidst the dust of renovation, the students’ creativity, commitment, and camaraderie shone through thus proving that when minds unite, learning transcends boundaries.
