Saving Lives Starts Here: IMU University Staff Complete Basic Life Support Training at CSSC

24 Jun 2025

9 April 2025 to 10 April 2025 – The Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre (CSSC) at IMU University conducted a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Training workshop for the University’s staff members.

The workshop aimed to equip participants with essential life-saving skills and enhance their preparedness to respond effectively to emergencies, both within and beyond the healthcare setting.

The training, delivered by certified BLS instructors, focused on the core components of life support, including high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and the principles of effective emergency response.

The curriculum adhered to the updated American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines, ensuring all participants met the standards required for BLS certification.

Dr Juliet Mathew, who was our first speaker of the workshop, stated, “BLS training is crucial not only for healthcare professionals but for all staff in a medical university environment. It empowers individuals to take immediate action during cardiac or respiratory emergencies, potentially saving lives before professional medical help arrives.”

Participants engaged in interactive sessions, hands-on practice, and realistic simulation scenarios that reinforced critical skills. The workshop also included competency assessments to evaluate each participant’s understanding and application of BLS protocols.

The success of the workshop underscores CSSC’s ongoing dedication to promoting life-saving education and fostering a culture of preparedness and safety within the IMU community.
