On 26 June 2025, the Department of Social Sciences, School of Psychology and Social Sciences, IMU University, in collaboration with staff of the IMU Chiropractic Programme, brought Malaysia to life for 16 inbound Chiropractic students from three well-known UK and Australian Universities (Teesside University, CQ University and Murdoch University) through a vibrant cultural immersion workshop titled “Unlocking Malaysia: A Journey Through Culture & Language.” Initiated as part of the Inbound Mobility Programme at IMU University, the event invited students to experience the heart of Malaysian culture, not through textbooks, but through taste, touch, language, and laughter.

Guided by passionate facilitators led by Sharina Abdullah, students donned sarung and pelikat, prepared traditional onde-onde, and stepped into everyday Malaysian conversations through playful language role-plays. From customs and festivals to food and etiquette, the session was a rich tapestry of cross-cultural exploration.

Designed to ease transition and deepen connection, the workshop left students not only more informed but also more at home. By the end, they didn’t just learn about Malaysia, they lived a part of it.
