Established in 1992, IMU has evolved from a pioneer in international medical partnerships to a multidisciplinary institution championing the One Health vision, preparing future-ready professionals through innovation, global collaboration, and a commitment to societal well-being.
Founded in 1992 with Malaysia’s first global medical partnership programme, IMU transformed the nation’s medical education landscape by enabling students to begin their studies locally before continuing at leading partner medical schools overseas.
Today, IMU continues to push boundaries, moving into a broader health-focused landscape. Our expanding portfolio of programmes now allow students to gain a foundation in arts, discover health-related business and technology fields and explore the field of veterinary medicine. This is part of how IMU is embracing the One Health vision, encouraging students to connect the dots and fully understand the interdependence between human, animal and environmental health. Our hope is that our students will move beyond the linear and evolve into systems thinking mindsets.
