17-18 January 2025 – The Department of Digital Health and Health Informatics (DHHI) within the School of Business and Technology at IMU University hosted a highly successful Machine Learning Bootcamp at IMU University’s well-equipped Digital Health Lab. This annual event aims to foster awareness of digital health advancements while equipping participants with invaluable hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies relevant to IT and healthcare.
Machine Learning Bootcamp 2025
This year, the bootcamp offered a flexible format, allowing students to attend either a beginner-level workshop on day one or an advanced-level workshop on day two, or both. The overwhelming response, with 32 participants on the first day and 30 on the second day, underscores the growing interest in this dynamic field.

Day One
Day Two
On the first day, the DHHI team introduced participants to the fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, culminating in hands-on training of their own machine learning models for real-world image recognition tasks. Participants also developed and refined their medical chatbot through engaging activities.
Day two delved deeper, introducing students to basic Python programming and leading them through practical exercises such as clustering, hand gesture recognition, and emotion recognition. Recognising the increasing importance of Large Language Models (LLMs), the workshop also included a session on prompt engineering and the deployment of LLM. The bootcamp concluded with a practical analysis of biomedical data using Python programming and visualisation techniques.

This immersive experience offered students a comprehensive understanding of digital health while creating an engaging and enjoyable learning environment.
The Department of Digital Health and Health Informatics (DHHI) looks forward to future editions of this successful event, inviting even more participants to explore the exciting frontiers of this rapidly evolving field.
