The Teaching & Learning office has been established in 2014 to guide and facilitate the schools and centres of IMU University to implement evidence-based approaches in teaching, learning and assessment. Dean, Teaching & Learning is assisted by three Associate Deans, Dean of schools, and T&L chairs the University Teaching & Learning Committee (TLC).
There are three subcommittees:
- Assessment
- Clinical & Experiential Learning (CEL)
- Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL)
Each subcommittee is chaired by the Associate Deans and consists of representatives from the schools and centres. All three sub-committees report to TLC, which reports to the faculty board and senate.

- Construction/review guidelines and strategies in Teaching and Learning, Assessment, E-learning, Clinical & Experiential Learning
- Ensuring best practices in teaching-learning & assessment
- Advise and engage with programme managers to develop new programmes
- Identify and develop new technologies with education team
- Conduct and promote teaching scholarship
- Design, implement and evaluate special projects based on teaching and learning needs
Teaching-Learning & Assessment Subcommittees
Remit of TLA Subcommittee
- Ensure implementation of the IMU Assessment Framework
- Review Assessment Framework on a regular basis
- Ensuring current best practices in assessment activities in IMU
- Providing advice and recommend training in assessment methods via CPD
- Monitor and evaluate formative and summative assessments periodically
- Recommend targets on assessments for implementation by programme
- Report to the IMU learning and teaching committee
Technology Enhanced Learning Subcommittee
Remit of TEL Subcommittee
- Ensure Implementation of the IMU E-Learning Framework in line with the Learning Model
- Review E-Learning Framework on a regular basis
- Ensure current best practices in E-Learning activities in IMU
- Provide advice and recommend training in E-Learning
- Recommend, monitor and evaluate the implementation of E-Learning in the various programmes
Clinical Experiential Learning Subcommittee
Remit of CEL Subcommittee
- Advising and monitoring; innovation and improvement on teaching-learning strategies and methods
- Advising on optimal use of clinical, laboratory and workplace learning resources
- Ensuring good practice in planning, conducting, and evaluating such learning
- Ensuring related policies are periodically reviewed at intervals of not less than every three years
