Research Administration
- Manage Research and Ethics Application – IMU-JC

Research Grant Management

Research Compliance, Reporting and Analytic

Functions
The IMU Research Laboratory and Support Services is a centralised, shared research spaces and resources that are well-equipped with the instruments, technologies, testing and services and infrastructure necessary for researchers to conduct their work effectively and safely. The IMU Research Laboratory and Support Services provide conducive environments to support scientific investigation, experimentation and analysis of all biomedical research.

Purpose
The IRDI Associate and Adjunct Research Fellowship is established to integrate both IMU faculty members and external researchers into the research ecosystem of IMU through IRDI, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, enhancing research capacity, and advancing IMU’s research strategy and global visibility.
This initiative addresses existing gaps by formally recognizing researchers—internal and external—as IRDI Associate and Adjunct Research Fellows respectively, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to IRDI’s goals while developing research leadership, scholarly outputs, and collaborative impact.
Objectives
The IRDI Associate and Adjunct Research Fellowship aims to:
- foster impactful research aligned with national and global health priorities.
- promote interdisciplinary collaboration across IMU Schools and with external partners.
- support capacity building in research leadership, mentorship, and grant acquisition.
- Recognise and honor researchers whose major scientific contributions have propelled significant innovations and progress into societal impact.
Academic Workload for IMU Faculty Members as Associate Research Fellow
Associate Research Fellows from IMU University will maintain the standard academic workload as per the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)’s circular on “Including Teaching Workload in 2025 Individual KPIs”, dated 18 February 2025 namely: 20% Research, 40% Teaching, and 40% Administration.
Engagement as an Associate Research Fellow must be compatible with teaching and administrative responsibilities and receive the endorsement of the respective School’s Dean/Director.

Roles & Responsibilities of Associate and Adjunct Research Fellows
Associate and Adjunct Research Fellows are expected to:
- Uphold Scientific Integrity and Professionalism
- Promote responsible conduct of research with the highest ethical standards.
- Promote Research Excellence
- Contribute to high-impact, innovative, and translational research aligned with IRDI’s goals.
- Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Engage in collaborative projects across Schools and/or with external institutions.
- Support Research Capacity Building
- Mentor students and junior researchers.
- Co-supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate research.
- Contribute to Grant Development
- Participate in interdisciplinary grant applications and proposal development.
- Advance Scholarly Outputs
- Actively Contribute to publications, presentations, policy-relevant outputs, and knowledge dissemination—while acknowledging IRDI and IMU University in scholarly works.
- Participate in IRDI Initiatives
- Engage actively in IRDI-organized meetings, forums, seminars, and relevant committees or panels.

Dual Affiliation for Adjunct Research Fellow
External researchers will retain their home institutional affiliation while holding an official appointment as IRDI Adjunct Research Fellow. This dual affiliation allows collaborative work under IRDI’s framework.
Meetings and Communication
IRDI Associate and Adjunct Research Fellows may be invited to:
- Annual fellowship meetings
- Strategic planning discussions
- Research networking sessions
- Project-specific consultations
- Other engagement as required
Term and Renewal
- Appointments are valid for two (2) years.
- Renewal requires the publication of at least two (2) peer-reviewed journal articles with the Centre’s affiliation, in collaboration with other IMU staff.
- Associate and Adjunct Research Fellows must demonstrate at least one (1) active engagement in the Centre’s activities, contribute meaningfully, and/or maintain continued relevance to IRDI’s strategic focus.
- The fellowship may be terminated by IRDI if the Associate or Adjunct Research Fellow is found to have violated any of the responsibilities outlined in Section 6.
- Appointment as an Associate or Adjunct Research Fellow is based on scientific merit as determined by IRDI. There is no limit to the number of fellows who may be appointed.
- IRDI reserves the right to revise this remit and its associated standard operating procedures at any time.
