Workshop Overview:-
The test-item analysis provides us, three basic information:
1) what percentage of students answered the question correctly? This helps to identify the level of difficulty of test questions. For example, if the difficulty index is 90% it means the item was very easy and this information student can seek from own resources and a teacher may not need many lectures to elaborate on that concepts.
2) Second information is to know how well the item is working? This tells how the items performed in discriminating the good versus poor students.
3) The last piece of information is how the options were used especially by the poorly performing students. Ideally, those picking up the wrong answer should have evenly distributed distracters? If not then this tells about students’ misconceptions and needs to be readdressed. When test results are analyzed for item analysis, it gives an opportunity to the teacher to find out the areas of weakness and strength of his students and take appropriate action.
Workshop Learning Outcomes:-
It is expected that participants after attending the standard setting workshop they will be able to: -
1. Define the reliability of the written test in OBA as a whole in the clinical phase of the MBBS program.
2. Comprehend the concepts of Difficulty index (P), Discrimination Index (D) and Item effectiveness (IE) of distracters.
3. Calculate the Difficulty Index Difficulty index (P), Discrimination Index (D) and Item effectiveness (IE) using Microsoft EXCEL.
