Workshop Synopsis:-

The AI Foundations for Faculty is a one-day workshop to be held twice a year. This workshop will provide basic and intermediate skills in understanding the capabilities and limitations of AI in higher education, as well as evidence-based applications of fundamental AI tools for course preparation, content generation, and developing AI-aware assessments. Faculty members will enhance their skills, starting with a foundational understanding of generative AI tools and progressing to prompting techniques, the preparation of AI-aware assessment tools, assignments, and associated quality control. Each session will also emphasise the ethical use of AI tools according to professional standards. The workshop aims to facilitate the establishment of discipline-specific faculty learning communities, incorporating faculty from various schools across the University.

 

Workshop Objective:-

The objective of this workshop is to:

  1. Apply strategies to incorporate AI in their teaching and assessment.
  2. Guide the students appropriately in their learning and research.

 

Workshop Learning Outcomes:-

After this workshop, the participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate foundational understanding of AI capabilities and limitations in higher education.
  2. Demonstrate skills in the prompting related to academic context.
  3. Apply fundamental AI tools in course preparation and delivery.
  4. Design discipline specific AI-aware assignments and assessments.
  5. Assist faculty to plan AI-assisted research  for undergraduate and post-graduate students.
