Whole slide imaging is a scanning technology that digitalises a glass slide in producing a high-resolution digital image. It can be archived permanently without the concerns of the deterioration of staining and hence the image quality due to aging of the slides. The digitalised images can be annotated and shared among professionals for confirmation of diagnosis, telepathology, educational and research purposes.
