National Higher Education Fund (NHEF) / Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN)

Terms and Conditions

  • The PTPTN loan is ONLY available for the local option programmes conducted fully in Malaysia.
  • For the credit transfer programmes (Medicine & Dentistry), PTPTN will ONLY cover the duration the student is in Malaysia.
  • The PTPTN management board charges an administration cost of 1% per year of the remaining loan sum.
  • Students will be required to obtain insurance coverage for the loan and the premium will be deducted from each semester’s loan by PTPTN.

Eligibility to Apply

  • Malaysian citizen aged 45 years and below from the date of application.
  • The monthly (gross) income of parents or guardians does not exceed RM50,000 (after deducting RM250 per dependent).
  • Must not be sponsored presently by any sponsoring body.
  • PTPTN does not sponsor students for the same level of studies twice.
  • Existing students shall have 1 remaining year in IMU University. Therefore, the application must be made at least in the following semesters:
    • MBBS, Dentistry (Local Option), Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine – Semester 8.
    • MBBS, Dentistry (Partner School Option) – Semester 3.
    • Pharmacy, Nursing, Dietetics with Nutrition – Semester 6.
    • Psychology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biomedical Science, Medical Biotechnology, Nutrition, Digital Health, Business Administration with Healthcare Management – Semester 4.
  • Students who have received PTPTN loan through previous colleges/universities but have withdrawn/not completed the studies are required to terminate the contract and make full repayment at PTPTN office before a new application can be made.

 

To apply online, student needs to:

  • Create CIMB Account
    • Personal Saving Account must be registered under student’s name. Joint and other types of bank account are not accepted.
    • Opened at any CIMB branch or online via CIMB website.
    • Students to bring along IMU University  Offer Letter to the bank. If it is required by the bank to have the Verification of Student Letter, students are required to request the letter from One-Stop Centre (OSC). The issuance of the Verification of Student Letter can only be processed for students who have enrolled in the programme.
  • Open SSPN Prime Account
  • Purchase of BSN PIN Number
  • Download and Create myPTPTN Account
  • Preparation of the Supporting Documents
    • A copy of IMU Offer Letter from Marketing and Enrollment Office.
    • A copy of Confirmed Offer of Admission Letter from Admission Office.
    • To upload both documents while completing the application via myPTPTN.

Online Application Duration

Students can start to submit the application through myPTPTN starting from the first day of the month until the last day of the month following the study programme.

Loan Agreement Submission

  • Student will receive an email from PTPTN on the agreement to be submitted.
  • Log in into myPTPTN at https://www.ptptn.gov.my/myptptn/ to view the agreement.
  • For submission of agreement a digital signature for RM25 needs to be purchased via the myPTPTN.
  • Once the agreement has been duly signed by the PTPTN Officer, students can print the complete loan agreement. The offer letter will only be displayed for 60 days on myPTPTN.

Disbursement of Loan

  • The initial disbursement amount will be credited into student’s CIMB bank account within 20 days from the date upon submission of complete set of agreement documents to PTPTN.
  • For the following subsequent disbursement, the loan will be disbursed following the below schedule for every semester according to the student’s result and transcript release date.
  • The loan disbursement to students for the following semester is based on the following conditions:
    • Currently studying at the approved level, programme, and active student in IMU University; and
    • Passing the previous semester’s examination with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher.
  • Suspension of disbursement will happen should the students fail to meet the above conditions.
  • PTPTN will not make further disbursements if students extend their program, as PTPTN does not provide study loans during the extended period.

  • Please take note that PTPTN does not release payment of loan according to IMU fee payment deadline. Students are responsible to pay tuition fees of every semester to IMU by deadline stated in the invoice.

Loan Repayment

  • Students will need to refer to the loan agreement for further details.
  • Repayment of loan can be made 12 months after completion of studies without waiting for the Repayment Notice.
  • Interest begins 12 months after completion of studies.

Loan Repayment Deferment

  • Repayment Deferment can be considered for borrowers who continue their studies and those who are unemployed.
  • An application to PTPTN must be submitted online through myPTPTN.
  • Approval for deferment is determined by PTPTN management, and the duration of the deferment period is also decided by PTPTN.

Exemption of Loan Repayment

  • Borrowers can also apply to get an exemption from repayment shall the students meet the conditions as below.
    • Full Time Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Complete Degree with First Class Honours.
    • Complete Degree within stipulated period according to PTPTN loan offer.
    • Does not overlap with other sponsorship.
    • The course taken must obtain Full Accreditation from MQA within loan period.
    • Submit application for exemption from loan repayment within 12 months from convocation date.
  • An application to PTPTN must be submitted online through myPTPTN at https://www.ptptn.gov.my/myptptn/.

Public Service Department (PSD) / Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA)

JPA provides sponsorship opportunities to SPM leavers to pursue Foundation and Undergraduate studies at IMU University. Advertisement on the JPA sponsorship usually be announced after SPM result every year which includes information of list of institutions and list of Undergraduate programmes applicable under the sponsorship scheme.

 

Foundation Studies

  • Sponsorship covers tuition fees and living allowance.
  • Students need to join third intake of the year for Foundation studies at IMU University.
  • Students eligible to receive hostel allowance only if students take up accommodation provided by IMU University.

Undergraduate Studies

  • Sponsorship covers tuition fees and living allowance.
  • Upon completion of Foundation studies, students may choose to continue Undergraduate studies at IMU University or to continue Undergraduate studies at other institutions with condition that the other institutions must be under JPA approved institutions list.
  • Students who did Foundation studies at other institutions may also choose to pursue Undergraduate studies at IMU University.
  • Students are free to choose whether to take up accommodation provided by IMU University or personal private accommodation as students will be receiving the same amount of living allowance (hostel allowance portion will be combined with living allowance).

KUOK Foundation

General Terms & Conditions

  • Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply.
  • Kuok Foundation study awards are for needy students only.
  • Applicants should possess good academic qualifications and should be active in school.
  • This financial aid is offered to all students pursuing local degree programmes which are MQA certified.

Time of Application

Application is usually available in July. Kuok Foundation will announce in the local news and their website for the application opening.

How to Apply?

Apply and submit online at apply.kuokfoundation.org. After applicants have submitted their application forms online, applicants MUST ALSO courier / send by Pos Laju or by hand the PRINTED COPY OF THE APPLICATION FORMS together with supporting documents to the Foundation’s office. All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement. Late applications will not be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

Type of Award

Interest free study loan or ½ loan ½ grant. No service bond.

Value of Award

The funding is up to RM50,000 per year (depending on courses undertaken and value is subject to revision from time to time)

Repayment of Loan

By monthly installments commencing one (1) month after completion of course.

Employee Provident Fund (EPF) / Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP)

General Information

This scheme allows qualified EPF members to withdraw their savings from Account No. 2 to finance their children’s / self study. Withdrawals are allowed for local and overseas education. Maximum withdrawals will depend on the amount of funds the parents / student have in their Account No. 2, as well as how much the university’s fees are. Members can apply for this scheme every semester (two withdrawal in one academic year), or every academic year (one time withdrawal in one academic year), or overall module fees.

How to Apply?

  • Collect KWSP withdrawal form from the IMU cashier on ground floor.
  • Submit the completed form to IMU cashier for processing (3 working days required).
  • Submit all supporting documents to KWSP for approval.

Maybank Education Loan

Main Applicant

  • Malaysian
  • Student as main applicant
  • Age 18 to 25 years old (non-working student)
  • Age 18 to 35 years old (working student)

 

Joint Borrower

  • Maximum of 3 joint borrower(s)
  • Age is between 21 to 65 years old and not exceeding 70 at the end of financing tenure
  • Relationship of joint applicant(s) with main applicant (student) must be immediate family member (including in-law and step parents / child relationship)
  • No adverse record on OCISS and CCRIS
  • Minimum monthly household income of RM5,000 (inclusive of proxy income)

Education Loan Type

  • Collateral – up to full tuition fees OR Marging of Financing of the security below; whichever is lower:
    – Property; or
    – Fixed Deposit / Islamic Fixed Deposit / General Investment Account-I

OCBC Earn & Learn Education Loan

Eligibility

  • Borrower must be a Malaysian resident with a minimum monthly income of RM7,500.
  • Borrower must be aged between 21 years and not exceeding 60 years old.
  • Applicable for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. For more information, please refer to OCBC website at www.ocbc.com.my/educationloan.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA)

MARA provides sponsorship opportunities to IMU University students. As for now, MARA have two sponsorship programmes as below:

 

Tertiary Education Sponsorship Programme (TESP)

  • Sponsorship covers tuition fees and living allowance for Undergraduate studies.
  • Eligible for Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy programmes (as of year 2024).
  • Eligible for Malay and Bumiputera students.
  • Application period usually available twice a year. FAU will announce to all students when MARA has published the TESP application date.
  • Students need to be an active IMU University student first, before can submit application for TESP.
  • Students must submit online applications through MARA official website.

Young Talent Development Programme (YTP)

  • Sponsorship covers tuition fees and living allowance for Foundation and Undergraduate studies.
  • Eligible for SPM leavers students who are interested to pursue Medicine and Dentistry (as of year 2024) programmes under Undergraduate studies.
  • Eligible for Malay and Bumiputera students.
  • Application period usually available once a year after SPM result is published.
  • Students will be doing Foundation studies in Kolej MARA Kulim, Kedah for a year. Afterwards, students will continue for Undergraduate studies at IMU University.
  • Students must submit online applications through MARA official website.

Hong Leong Foundation

General Term

  • It is open to Malaysian citizens aged between 17 – 25 years who have sat for the SPM/STPM examination.
  • Eligible for those who pursue in Undergraduate Studies (1st degree course) in any course on full time basis in Malaysia.
  • Those who are currently doing their Degree program (Year 1, 2 or 3) eligible to apply.
  • Not eligible for Pre-U courses.

Academic Requirements

  • SPM : Minimum 8As.
  • STPM / Matriculation / A-Level / Foundation / Diploma / Degree: Minimum CGPA of 3.50 (Please convert the scoring to CGPA when applying if your scoring is not currently in this format).
  • Scholarship is only for full time courses conducted in Malaysia only.

Time of Application

Application will be open from 1 April to 31 May.

You have to submit online application in Hong Leong Foundation website (must have Gmail email account).

Koperasi Jayadiri Malaysia Berhad (KOJADI)

General Term

  • Applicant needs to be member of KOJADI.
  • Be noted that payment is required for membership registration process.
  • Loan will be disbursed in one lump sum after all the duly executed loan documents and payments have been received by KOJADI.
  • No restriction for PTPTN applicant.

Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman

Eligibility

  • Provides monthly allowance and annual allowance only.
  • Provides leadership development programme. Scholars will attend camps and workshops to hone their leadership skills, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicable for Malaysian citizen only.
  • Has completed their Pre-University studies and has at least two years of their undergraduate studies remaining.

Time of Application

  • Application will be open in February.

Yayasan Sarawak

General Term

  • Only for Sarawak native (one of the parents must be Sarawakian).
  • Submit a PTPTN loan offer letter to apply loan increment.
  • Need two guarantors who have permanent employment and are not above 55 years of age.
  • Have to submit a fee structure for tuition fee.
  • Loan repayment after 12 months’ completion of study
  • The initial disbursement will be issued upon receipt of the complete document.

Time of Application

  • Application open for the whole year.
