In fact, as I learn more about biotechnology, I find out that being a biotechnologist is not just a job which one will only work in a laboratory as a researcher, but it actually provides a lot of job opportunities in many different fields, including government agency for policy regulation, pharmaceutical and technology companies, as a product specialist, etc.

I have always been passionate about promoting public health and wellness, especially by emphasising healthy eating and living. Food is a basic necessity of our lives and we can never live without it! It is therefore incredibly fulfilling for me to directly or indirectly help people achieve their goals and inspire them to take control of their health by eating right and staying fit.

I particularly selected the medical biotechnology programme at IMU because the curriculum suits my preference of wanting to learn more of both medical and technology related contents. True enough, the curriculum was up to my expectations and some even were more than what I had expected. In general, the programme was well planned out in terms of helping me to gain knowledge.

When you are able to do a dressing in aseptic technique, this is science. When you are able to provide a comfortable and friendly dressing, this is an art in nursing.

Four years training in IMU had given me enough preparation to work in any area of nursing in the healthcare system. The modules that has been prepared and delivered gave me the opportunity to learn not only in nursing care but also in different points of view. This is very useful for me especially working in an emergency department of a private hospital where patients come from different parts of the world.

It is also one of the best decisions that I have made for myself. Studying Dietetics with Nutrition in IMU made me realise that it is not just about the knowledge that is valuable, but what comes together with the knowledge.

My journey with IMU is remarkable and one life-changing event! As IMU Nutrition students, we were blessed with enormous opportunities in community projects. A once in a lifetime experience does not come every day, so I jumped at the opportunity to attend the Winter Course 2019 with 57 students from different health professions and countries including, Indonesia, Taiwan, Timor Leste and Sweden. The course focused on interprofessional education through lectures, clinical observations and lab training. Along with the other Malaysians, we went with an open mind, not knowing what to expect, but little did we know that what was in store for us would be a memorable experience!
