The first week of November every year is a memorable week for IMU Chinese Medicine (CM) students because this is the time for the annual Chinese Medicine Week, where a series of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practices are showcased at the atrium of the university’s campus in Bukit Jalil. This year, the event was organised by students from cohorts CM 2/16 and CM 1/17 under the supervision of a lecturer, Dr Chep Lee. Held from 4 November to 6 November, this year’s event was themed “The Circadian Clock of TCM” or ZiWu LiuZhu in Chinese because this event would like to raise the awareness of participants on the state of the human body, in terms of the cyclic circulation of Qi and Blood along the meridians that is synchronised with the hours of the day. Hear from Our Community

IMU is a place of learning, culture and fun. Besides learning about my profession, I had the opportunity to know people from many other healthcare professions which helped build my professional network for my future career. I am grateful to the faculty members who are always helpful and provide students with assistance in the challenges they faced while learning.

IMU's Chinese Medicine programme integrates both Chinese and Western medicine subjects for the needs of nation and to develop competent practitioners. It is a challenge to study Chinese Medicine since it provides brand-new knowledge to any student and it is very different from what we have learned previously, but you will find it fun and interesting once you embark on this lifelong journey.

During my time studying chiropractic at IMU, I had also attended free spinal screening event held throughout my student life. The importance of this screening event is to increase the awareness of musculoskeletal health and to introduce chiropractic care to the society. In addition, it also helped to sharpen my communication and analytical skills. In my opinion, it was really a great experience as it is something that we can't obtain it through academically and through these activities, I have found my interest in chiropractic.

My wife has been on medication for 4 years for progressive aphasia, and there was not much improvement. My niece who is an ex-IMU student suggested to try out Chinese Medicine treatment at ICMC. I was happy with the acupuncture treatment there. After few treatments, I noticed my wife’s face is rosy and facial expression has improved. The lecturer and acupuncture students are very professional and the supporting staff are friendly.

I’m practicing doctor and I’ve always had an interest to learn acupuncture. IMU has opened up an avenue for western evidence-based medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine to assimilate with each other. This is a great learning opportunity, and I’m proud to be among its pioneering batch of students.

IMU Chinese Medicine programme is a unique programme which comprises both western and Chinese Medicine subjects. As an established and internationally recognized university in healthcare education, we benefited from the university's strong foundation in western medicine teaching and managed to expand our connections with colleagues from various healthcare fields.

Chinese Medicine is not new to me. I was impressed with the acupuncture treatment received at IMU Chinese Medicine Centre (ICMC). After few sessions of acupuncture, my condition has improved significantly. I had been suffering for lower limbs oedema for years. Both the lecturer and students carried out their duty professionally. I will not hesitate to introduce my friends to IMU Healthcare.
