The Office of Industry Partnerships and Engagement (IPE) is committed to enriching students’ skills and opportunities by fostering collaboration with industry and the innovation ecosystem.
Under the auspices of IPE, three main pillars operate: Innovation & Commercialisation, Industry Partnership, and Career Development. Each pillar serves a distinct function: Industry Partnership provides resources to facilitate authentic learning by integrating students with industry for experiential learning. Career Development explores the essential skills demanded by employers, emphasising the notion that “you are hired for your degree, but appreciated and promoted for your essential skills.” Innovation and Commercialisation drive innovation and cultivate our entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, including the IMU Innovation Hub.
Career Development was established to provide career development tools and support to future IMU graduates. Our goal is to equip and guide students as they navigate their academic journey on campus. Career Development offers dedicated support to enhance students’ personal and professional growth, improving their employability and preparing them to face the ever-changing job market.
Embark on your journey with the Career Development Unit and unlock the pathway to your professional success.
The Career Development Unit, within the Office of Industry Partnerships and Engagement (IPE), is dedicated to assisting you in cultivating workplace skills and boosting your confidence. Provide students with opportunities for work and internships with our industry partners. Our overarching goal is to furnish students with the necessary tools and a clear sense of purpose to progress confidently, enabling the development of skills tailored to your unique journeys.
The Graduate Trainee Programme (GTP), introduced by IPE, helps students secure internships and placements. As a career coach, Ms Doreen knows the kind of CVs that are going to impress potential employers. That is why I asked her to check my CV several times as I was writing it. There is a world of difference between my initial CV and the one that I finally sent out and landed me a placement!
