Brains, Buzzers, and Bingo: FiS Students Go Head-to-Head in Ultimate Science Face-Off!

On 24 May 2025, the IMU Foundation in Science students brought the Mei Ling Young Auditorium to life with the highly anticipated FiS Inter-Cohort Science Competition! The air was buzzing with excitement as students from FS224, FS324, and FS125 gathered to pit their scientific wits against each other in a test of speed, strategy, and teamwork.

Following the success of past years, this 2025 edition promised even more action – and it delivered! The competition featured a thrilling two-stage format: a rapid-fire Kahoot quiz in the Preliminary Round and a high-stakes Science Bingo showdown in the Finals.

The day kicked off with a flurry of activity as over 30 teams registered and prepared for the first round.

The Preliminary Round tested the teams on general science, mathematics, and IQ questions through an electrifying Kahoot session. Teams huddled, debated, and clicked their answers under the pressure of the countdown timer – every second counted!

At the end of the Kahoot round, five teams emerged victorious, earning their spot in the Finals. And oh boy, was it intense!

With brains fired up and spirits soaring, the top 5 teams took the stage again – this time for the Final Round: Science Bingo. It wasn’t your grandma’s bingo! This was a battle of clues, strategy, and sheer nerves. Teams raced to complete their bingo boards by solving science clues, each answer unlocking another box on the grid. The room was buzzing with energy and laughter as the competition grew fiercer with each solved square.

Each winning team brought their own unique spark to the competition, earning well- deserved certificates of achievement. All participants received certificates of participation, a badge of honor for their valiant efforts!

“We screamed when we got into the top 5 – we didn’t expect it! The bingo round was so fun and different from anything we’ve done before.”

A big shoutout goes to the organising committees who supported the question bank and worked tirelessly to ensure the event was well-planned and enjoyable, every detail was thoughtfully executed.

All in all, the FiS Inter-Cohort Science Competition 2025 wasn’t just about winning – it was about connecting students from across cohorts, reigniting excitement for science, and creating lasting memories.
