IMU Students Dive into the Future of AI at “AI for Good Health” Workshop

On 31 July 2025, a dynamic team of 17 students from the Bachelor in Digital Health, Master in Health Informatics and Analytics, and Bachelor of Pharmacy programmes—alongside academic staff from the School of Business and Technology and the School of Medicine from IMU University—were invited by InvestKL and Cognizant to participate in the Gen AI Prompt Engineering Workshop, titled “AI for Good Health.” The event took place at Cognizant’s vibrant office in Menara Shell, Kuala Lumpur, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

This exciting workshop was part of the global AI for Impact series, which is simultaneously running across major cities including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Sydney, Auckland, Manila, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. The session offered a glimpse into the future of Artificial Intelligence, spotlighting the evolution from Generative AI to Agentic AI—intelligent systems that not only create content but also make decisions and carry out tasks autonomously.

Participants engaged in hands-on activities focused on prompt engineering strategies, tackling real-world challenges while sharpening their skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and AI literacy. Attendees also earned a Gen AI digital badge/certificate, marking their growth and recognition in this cutting-edge field.

The IMU team was tasked with two impactful case studies: one aimed at reducing diabetes in the community, and the other focused on developing a Mental Health App. In a fast-paced 45-minute hackathon-style challenge, both teams collaborated to co-create AI-driven solutions and presented their innovative outcomes to the group.

The workshop not only empowered students with practical AI skills but also fostered collaborative innovation, encouraging them to connect, share ideas, and build solutions that could shape the future of healthcare.
