Our Aim

The aims of the Student Counselling Services (SCS) Programmes are to help the students by:

  • Encouraging the students to embark on a journey of self-exploration in terms of personality, studying styles, personal strengths, and motivation.
  • Preparing students for university journey and the adjustment to campus life.
  • Working on personal a plan to acquire the skills they may need for their academic studies or their chosen career path.
  • Empowering students with soft skills which emphasise on memory, reading, and critical thinking.
  • Delivering knowledge and skills to manage stress (E.g., relaxation strategies, locating support and resources, self-reflection) to the students.
  • Learning techniques in decision-making skills, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Exploring students’ resources in managing their feelings and behaviour.

The Outcome

Through the Student Counselling Services (SCS) Programmes, students would be exposed to the following outcomes.

  • Reflecting on their personal learning and working styles, ongoing performance, and achievements.
  • Learning to capitalise on strengths in planning their all-round personal, educational and career development.
  • Identifying personal challenges and locating resources to address or resolve the challenges.
  • Learning to tap into emotion regulation skills to manage their emotional care.
  • Developing interpersonal skills to build healthy relationships with peers as well as social supports for themselves and others.
  • Improving and strengthening empathy skill to communicate and support others.

Personal Growth Programmes for Students

These Personal Growth programmes are introduced to students during orientation, outreach, online and ongoing workshops, videos, webinars and talks as well as on our Student Portal.
