During my time studying chiropractic at IMU, I had also attended free spinal screening event held throughout my student life. The importance of this screening event is to increase the awareness of musculoskeletal health and to introduce chiropractic care to the society. In addition, it also helped to sharpen my communication and analytical skills. In my opinion, it was really a great experience as it is something that we can't obtain it through academically and through these activities, I have found my interest in chiropractic.

Frequently Asked Questions
The IMU Chiropractic Programme is crafted to equip students with the necessary skills to excel as Chiropractors on a global scale, as outlined by the Councils on Chiropractic Education International. Graduates will have a comprehensive understanding of diagnosing and treating various human conditions, with a strong focus on the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine. Chiropractic is an established healthcare profession, licensed in more than 30 countries and supported by over 30 Chiropractic schools worldwide. Chiropractors have a diverse range of career opportunities, including private or group practice, as well as employment in private, educational, or (in certain countries) governmental settings. Additionally, many Chiropractors pursue specialised areas within the field, such as orthopedics, neurology, nutrition, diagnostic imaging, and sports Chiropractic.
The curriculum of the programme spans five years, covering both academic and clinical training. Chiropractic students undergo similar pre-university courses as other healthcare professionals such as foundation, A-level, etc. To provide practical experience, much of the coursework is taught in simulated clinical settings, which starts from the early stages of the programme.

The IMU Chiropractic Programme is the pioneer Chiropractic programme in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, featuring an evidence-based curriculum that draws from research findings. The programme integrates hands-on learning opportunities from the beginning of the curriculum and emphasizes the significance of Chiropractors as members of the healthcare team. The curriculum is designed to align with international guidelines, and the region offers ample opportunities for developing Chiropractic practices.
The Chiropractic curriculum involves a diverse range of teaching methods, including lecture, discussion, laboratory work, self-directed study, and real clinical settings. Since Chiropractic is a hands-on profession, students are trained to perceive the structures of the human body, particularly the spine (comprising the neck, middle and lower back, and pelvis) by touch. As the programme progresses, students engage in increasingly advanced hands-on activities that involve analysing and treating patients using techniques commonly used in Chiropractic clinical practice. During the final stages of the programme, students manage real patients in a supervised Chiropractic Centre. This includes diagnosing patients, devising a treatment plan, ordering and interpreting radiology, and laboratory tests (when necessary), referring patients to other healthcare professionals when appropriate, and performing all aspects of spinal adjustment and adjunctive treatment.
IMU has brought together a group of highly regarded and clinically experienced Chiropractors from around the world to provide an exceptional educational experience in Chiropractic. Along with their extensive clinical practice, these Chiropractors have conducted research, published papers in peer-reviewed journals, presented at multidisciplinary conferences, and authored textbooks. IMU’s basic science faculty has been teaching medical physicians, dentists, and pharmacists for over 15 years, consistently upholding a high standard of quality.
Semester contents are available in the programme brochure [Download Brochure]
After completing the Chiropractic degree from IMU, graduates have a range of career options. The majority of chiropractors establish their private practice, where they oversee all aspects of patient care and practice management.
Increasingly, Chiropractors are working in a multidisciplinary group setting with other healthcare professionals such as family medicine specialists and orthopedic surgeons. In some countries, Chiropractors can secure positions in military clinics and hospitals, as well as education and research.
Chiropractic care has been shown to aid in the recovery of athletic injuries and enhance athletic performance, leading to many professional, collegiate, and amateur athletic teams utilizing chiropractic services. Some teams hire Chiropractors directly, while others refer their injured athletes to private sports chiropractic specialists.
IMU awards the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chiropractic degree to its graduates. Students who transfer to the partner university will receive the respective degree from that institution.
